An Independent Power Producer (IPP) is a business entity that generates electricity for sale to utilities and end users. They are not regulated to the same extent as traditional utility companies and usually do not own the transmission infrastructure to deliver electricity. Their primary focus is on the generation of power, which they sell through the grid or directly to consumers.
